A Maker's Wish List

Updated: Nov 24, 2021

Looking for that perfect gift for a fiber loving friend or yourself? Look no further! I have curated a list of things any crocheter/knitter would be excited to receive. The only hard part now is choosing which item to get!

TUNISIAN CROCHET

Love2Crochet Interchangeable Crochet Hook Set

Or if you're looking for a more unique, one-of-a-kind gift, I recommend one of these incredible, hand carved beauties! Kelly, from

There's no denying that Tunisian crochet is "in" right now and many designers (including myself) are 100% on board with it!

Unfortunately, I didn't order this awesome set first. I went through the frustrating process of ordering 2 cheaper sets that I immediately returned because of poor quality and/or roughness. So learn from my mistakes and pay the extra price for a quality set!

WHY I LIKE THIS SET:

1) The smooth surface allows the loops to glide with ease.

2) Reasonably priced.

3) Interchangeable! Whether you're making something thin or wide, you have the right sized hook with the right sized cord.

Yarnloop Ergonomic Handle Crochet Hooks: Comfortable, quality, affordable hooks conveniently organized in a small, wrap up carrier.

Or if you're looking for a more unique, one of a kind gift, I recommend one of these incredible, hand carved beauties! Kelly, from @knitbrooks, and Kristina, from @miramarwoods, transform fallen branches into these useful, works of art!

KNITTING

Knitting in the round is so popular right now and with these interchangeable hooks, you can go from bust to sleeves with ease. (...I think? I've never actually knitted in the round but that seems right?!)

Swift

Let me start by saying that I don't own a swift (yet) but I have only heard great things about them! It's one of those tools that isn't necessarily "necessary" (say that 5 x fast) to have but is definitely helpful. I've heard that they save loads of time and headaches.

NOTIONS

Okay, this set may seem boring but for the maker that's just starting out, it's PERFECT! (I've been crocheting now for 6 years and still use this kit!) It includes all of the notions you need in a small, organized container and at an affordable price.

Now, if you're buying for a seasoned maker, I recommend adding "a little bit of spice" with handmade stitch markers! Click here to check some out on Etsy.

Most makers enjoy listening to music or podcasts while creating (The Office Ladies, anyone?!) so a great gift to yourself would be small quality headphones! But not just any headphones. Airpods. Wireless, rechargeable, Bluetooth headphones. (saaaay whaaaaat?!)

Honestly, I had never even heard of them until Verizon sent Ky (my husband) and I a couple and now I totally get the hype! These headphones sit in your ear perfectly and are so lightweight that you forget that they're there! And even though they are made by Apple, they are compatible with Androids, too! Plus, the case you store them in automatically recharges your headphones! Double plus, you can simply tap the headphones to turn the song! I know. I know! Technology is bonkers, right?!

Handsfree LED Light

Guys, I was just in the car for around 40 hours traveling for Christmas and you know what

REALLY sucked? Not having a light to crochet with when it was dark out. So, on the way home, I ordered these and they'll be arriving in 2 days! I'm so pumped and I'm pretty sure my husband is too since I plan to use these instead of a lamp during movie time!

BOOKS

These books are full of content that you can't find online easily. To have a book on hand that explains a load of different, unique stitches with photo instructions seems so helpful!

YARN BAGS

Need I say more? This tote not only does the job but also brings a smile to everyone's face! Grab it by clicking here.

This one is for the maker who wants organization and efficiency. Grab it by clicking here.

And last but not least, a yarn bag that is not only functional but also gorgeous! (I actually just ordered myself one. Just wait until you see the inside pockets!) Grab it by clicking here.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Holy balls. This is expensive." I know. I know. But I just wanted to include it in this list because I know a LOT of makers wish they had a DSLR so they could showcase their work better. I've personally owned a Canon Rebel T3 for almost a decade and adore it! It's easy to use so it's great for beginners.

WHY I LIKE IT:

1) Reasonably priced

2) Quality

3) Comes with 2 lenses and carrying case

4) Easy to use

Tripod and Remote

I think we can all agree that selfies are hard to take and pretty awkward! Which is why a tripod and remote is a must have for any social media maker. I finally bought a DSLR remote and, guys, it was LIFE CHANGING. Not having to run back and forth after every timed shot saved me so much time and effort. Plus, the photos turned out better since the remote focuses the lens for you!

Maker Gear & Other Awesome Stuff

Makers are proud to be makers (as we should be 😉) And what better way to announce to the world we are makers than by maker gear?!

Click each photo below to check out a few of my personal favorite items.

So, there you have it, friends! I hope this list helped you in some way or another. Have the merriest Christmas and a happiest New Year!

🖤 Kayla
